Echo In Pages
By: Chloe Almeida
Love in a Million Likenesses
Differs from the very definition
On love at first sight
Kissing in the rain
The first look at a future
And the many years of endless
Happiness
That echo in the pages of
History
I want a love from the pages
Of roman fantasy
The undying love of Antony and Cleopatra
Transcending the bite of a snake
The everlasting love of Apollo and Daphne
Overcoming the challenges of mortality
The immortal love of Menelaus and Helen
Launching a thousand ships
I long for a love as supernatural as the words of poets
As epic as the lines of Homer
Flowing through the veins of humanity
The care free love of Fitzgerald and Zelda
Blind to the world,
Enamored by each other
The airy love of Elizabeth and Darcy
Rocked by the views of society
And strengthened by their bond

I yearn for a love
Embodying the happiness
Of fictitious history
Everlasting
transcending
epic love

This Poem was inspired by the Love Poems of Francesco Petrarca and The Beautiful Damned by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Vodka Stung Skin
By: Victoria Velenno

Desperation shadows the night sky
the heavy and longing glances
a craving for simple
light
craving
unlike the others
collapses on top like a
cliff that crumbles down covering
leaving nothing but a dusty recollection
of memories that will outlive our
long nights in hot pools,
wondering if that
brisk touch
was
the water
of if it was you
Maybe it was just the
loose lips of vodka stung skin

This Poem is inspired by the poem by T.S. Eliot The Rhapsody on a Windy Night
This was also influenced by the song Memories in the Broadway Musical CATS
